Master the technology that makes the music
Audio Production II is very much a continuation of Audio Production I. From this point on, all further education and training is accompanied by actual creation of recording projects in the professional sound-studio laboratories of the Department of Professional Studies.
There are a number of new areas that are covered in depth in Audio Production II that were either not included in Audio Production I or were merely touched upon in Audio Production I.
Those new areas include:
The biggest difference between Audio Production I and Audio Production II, however, is the application of the topics covered in actual recording projects. The projects in this course are prepared by students in teams of three. Moreover, these first projects involve the most basic skills and principles of recording and the recording process. The emphasis is on those processes and aspects of audio technology that the students must master and be prepared to apply to countless projects throughout their future careers, even though the contexts and technological advances of those applications will vary widely and advance rapidly.
Audio technology presently advances and develops at breathtaking speed. Important new applications commonly develop even within the time period of a semester. Yet, the fundamental properties of sound and circuits do not change. There are simply aspects of audio technology that are so fundamental and timeless, that they must be mastered thoroughly so that they can be confidently and capably applied to the rapidly developing equipment and processes indefinitely into the future.
While Audio Production II provides glimpses into the advanced and more complex procedures and equipment to be utilized in subsequent courses (and in industry), this semester is devoted to the basics of hands-on recording and sound synthesis. The skills of Audio Production I MUST be mastered, if the student is to have any hope of success in future courses and in industry.
