How to Create and Send CLAS Deans' Notes
Create the Page Using Contribute:
Open an existing page, or type in this URL:
http://www.cudenver.edu/clas/deansNotes/sample.html
From the top menu, select File>New>Copy of Current Page
In the Title box, type: CLAS Deans Notes :: Date of this issue
(Do not use an apostrophe in "Dean's" here)
Edit the page.
Click "publish", and "Yes, you know there's no link yet."
STOP! DO NOT LET CONTRIBUTE PUBLISH THE FILE WITHOUT CHANGING THE FILE NAME.
Delete the default file name and type the following:
publishdate.html [where publishdate is the numeric representation of MMDDYYYY, for example 01242007.html ]
Export the page (found under File > Export in top menu) to your computer. (Be sure you can find it later.)
Add this issue to the Dean's Notes archive using Contribute
Browse to the page: http://www.cudenver.edu/clas/deansNotes/index.html
Click "Edit"
Add the date and the link to the page you've just created. (Hint: use the "Choose" button in the link box)
Publish the page.
Send the Dean's Notes using Microsoft Outlook
Begin a new message in Outlook.
Set the format to HTML.
Click on the Attachment Icon and browse to the folder on your computer where you saved the exported HTML file in the first step above.
Highlight the file, but do not click through yet. Pull down the menu titled "Insert" and choose "Insert as Text".
Optional: Format the background of the message: Click Format > Background > Color and choose something you like.
Add the subject, and address the TO line, and it's ready to send.
