Professor of Biology
As Dean, Dr. Howard provides essential leadership for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He is committed to improving both the educational and research enterprises of the college, while at the same time enhancing connections between the Denver metropolitan area and the university. He believes that it is important that prospective students, as well as their parents, understand the central role that a liberal arts education plays in equipping students to succeed in a variety of careers and in leading fulfilling lives.

ASSOCIATE DEAN - Planning and Initiatives
Brenda J. Allen
Professor of Communication
Dr. Allen leads the strategic planning process for the college. This includes providing support and encouragement for the development and implementation of college signature areas and leadership for other college initiatives. Dr. Allen works to ensure implementation of the college’s diversity plan. She also works closely with others across the college and the university to facilitate consolidation initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Allen handles space issues for the College.

ASSOCIATE DEAN - Research and Creative Activities
Laura M. Argys
Professor of Economics
Dr. Argys works to promote the research and creative activities of the faculty. Her responsibilities include oversight of sponsored programs within CLAS, development of policies and programs to enhance faculty research opportunities and facilitation of research connections across departments, colleges and campuses. Dr. Argys seeks to expand and enhance research and creative activities by graduate and undergraduate students and scholarly collaboration between students and faculty.

Mary Coussons-Read
Professor of Psychology
Dr. Coussons-Read oversees all faculty personnel activities, such as contracts, retention, tenure and promotion policies and procedures. She takes the lead in all faculty governance initiatives, such as the CLAS by-laws, CLAS council, and coordination of CLAS committee elections. Additionally, Dr. Coussons-Read works to develop connections to K-12 and to expand/enhance undergraduate research opportunities.

Tammy Stone
Professor of Anthropology
Dr. Stone
oversees schedule planning and classroom assignments, curriculum and policy issues, as well as the development of outcome measurements for the college as a whole. She also handles all graduate student affairs issues, including student petitions.

Kuan-Yi Rose Chang
Director of Chinese Language
Dr. Chang manages all college activities associated with international initiatives (particularly the International College in Beijing [ICB]). She serves as the liaison for all matters associated with the Office of International Education (OIE) and the office of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Dr. Chang seeks to expand the current continuing and professional educational programs in the college by seeking new avenues and course offerings.

Steve Honda
In the capacity of chief financial officer, Mr. Honda oversees all budget development, reporting and analysis for the College. This includes responsibility for financial aspects of contracts and grants, as well as approval of budget, expense, and payroll transactions. Mr. Honda also serves as college representative on numerous campus and system finance-related committees.

Tim Stalker - Webmaster
Tim coordinates the system maintenance, administration, and development of the CLAS website as well as CLAS department websites. He serves as the CLAS liaison to campus-wide Web development and communications entities and provides training and support in Web and multimedia technologies.

Carol Achziger - Grant Development Coordinator
Ms. Achziger coordinates grants and contracts activities within the college. She acts as a liaison between those preparing proposals and the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC). Ms. Achziger assists Principal Investigators (PIs) in the preparation and submission of grant proposals and contracts by interfacing with the PI and the OCG to ensure that all forms and submission requirements are met so that the submission is successful. She also tracks awards, facilitates report submission, and serves as a resource for information regarding external funding opportunities.
