Outreach Program for Sustainable Energy & Infrastructure Planning in Colorado Communities

Why Sustainability Planning in Cities?

Sustainable energy and infrastructure planning can help save money, protect the environment, and build vibrant communities in Colorado and accross the United States. But it is often difficult to know how to get started on a sustainability plan. This program will help communities become leaders in sustainability. Our work with communities in Colorado alone, is already impacting over 1 million people. Below is a map of a few of the communities in Colorado and across the nation we have worked with so far.

What Does this Program Offer?

In this program, UC Denver will conduct a sustainable energy footprint analysis for cities consistent with Colorado Carbon Fund protocols. Sectors covered by this analysis include: buildings energy use, transportation energy use, and embodied energy of key materials and waste. Based on this data UC Denver can create a sustainable energy action matrix tailored to each community’s unique characteristics.

Communities are asked to assist in the collection of necessary data to complete the analysis and work closely with UC Denver faculty, staff and students in developing these tools for the community.
