John C. Ruhnka

Dr. John Ruhnka is the Bard Family Term Professor of Entrepreneurship at the College of Business and Administration and Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Colorado Denver, where he teaches in the areas of Entrepreneurship, International Business, and Legal Issues of Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Ruhnka received his MBA in Finance from the Wharton Graduate Division at the University of Pennsylvania and his JD from Yale University. He was also awarded an LLM degree from Cambridge University. Prior to entering academia, he practiced securities law at Lord Day & Lord in New York and was a securities law partner in a large Denver law firm, where he specialized in structuring and financing startup businesses and initial public offerings for new ventures.

Dr. Ruhnka has published numerous articles on venture capital investing and other topics in The Journal of Business Venturing, Harvard Business Review, CPA Journal, and other business publications. He has received numerous teaching awards and was twice selected as Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the University of Colorado Denver.
