2007 Recipients: Gail and Dave Liniger

Bard Center
honors RE/MAX founders
Guests gathered Sept. 26 at the Bard Center’s Excellence in American Entrepreneurship Award event to honor Gail and Dave Liniger, co-founders of RE/MAX. When presenting the award, Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter described the couple as “great citizens of the state of Colorado who are making a difference in an industry around the world.” Ritter noted that entrepreneurs including the Linigers as well as Bard Center founders Richard and Pamela Bard are role models that inspire innovation and creativity.
In accepting the award, both Gail and Dave Liniger spoke of their company’s humble beginnings based on an idea to allow real estate agents to keep their sales commissions rather than the then customary 50/50 split most brokers required of their affiliated agents. Instead, the Linigers thought the agents should share the costs for offices and services provided by the broker. Pursing their vision has guided RE/MAX’s growth to its current 120,000 agents working in 65 countries.
Among other well wishers attending the event emceed by KCNC-TV4’s Ed Greene were local business leaders, representatives from the School of Business and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper.
