David LibanDavid Liban, Assistant Professor and documentary filmmaker lastest film, Geocache, will air on KBDI Channel 12, on Tuesday, February 12, at 9:30pm. Geocache is a documentary film based on the newest high-tech treasure hunt called geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) where participants use a GPS system to look for hidden items all over the world. It's a growing sport that combines the internet, global satellite positioning (GPS) technology, and hiking. It's a game that some have become obsessed with; some players have logged in with many thousands of finds. The film explains through the participants how the game is played and features the characters who live and breath geocaching. Part of the documentary takes place at GeoWoodstock IV where geocachers from around the world gather to socialize and to geocache. Topics include run-ins with the law, the community of players, conflicts between land managers and geocachers, as well as a look at the possible impact it is having on the environment.

Geocache has won a Gold Ava Award, November 2007.
