The College of Arts & Media is the Host Institution for the 45th National Conference of the Society for Photographic Education. Visual Arts Department Chair and Associate Professor of Photography, Joann Brennan, is the Conference Chair for this event providing the vision for the conference titled, Agents of Change: Art and Advocacy. Some 1,300 artists, scholars, and educators will be in town taking part in conference events that will include presentations by national and international speakers, panel presentations, exhibitions, film screenings, image-maker presentations, portfolio reviews, and more. Major speakers include a keynote presentation by lawyer and Human Rights Advocate, Susan L.Burke. Also featured are photographers Edward Burtynsky and Subhankar Banarjee; honored educator Patrick Nagatani; presentations by photographic artist Lauren Greenfield; and, Curator of Photography at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Toby Jurovics.
