Featuring Professor Gregory Walker
Friday, April 10 • 7:30pm
King Center Concert Hall
Tickets: $12 General Admission,
$5 UC Denver students
Sponsored by: Music & Entertainment Industry Studies Department, Faculty Performance Series

Looking for the Perfect Planet is a multimedia event that spans the cultural gulf between the academic and the underground with hip hop-inspired choral music, dramatic technological applications, and the slam poetic vision of a nonviolent future for a culture numbed by violence in mass media.  The UC Denver 9th Street Singers, the South High School slam poetry workshop team, and the Chatfield Senior High School Chantons are featured on the program, which will include slam poetry and choir performances of a range of repertoire.  The centerpiece will be Gregory T.S. Walker's Looking for the Perfect Planet for Amplified Chorus and Video Sampler which showcases the “video sampler”, cutting edge software that enables Walker to digitally sample, deconstruct, and project videotaped performances on a large screen beside the choir - with gestures of his hands in the air.   For details, visit http://carbon.cudenver.edu/~gwalker/perfectplanetpage.html
