Gary Buss, Lecturer

Gary Buss is currently Instructor of Woodwinds at the University of Colorado Denver, a position he has held since 2006. A native of Memphis Tennessee, Mr. Buss received his B.S.Ed from the University of Memphis and his M.M. in Multiple Woodwind Performance and Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina, with additional studies with Felix Viscouglia of the Boston Symphony (ret.) and Andrew Marriner of the London Symphony.

Mr. Buss has served on the faculty at Shelby State College and the University of North Florida, and has taught woodwind clinics and adjudicated throughout the southern US.

An active performer on all woodwinds, Mr. Buss has performed with the Memphis Symphony, South Carolina Philharmonic, Tennessee Symphony, Las Vegas Festival Orchestra, and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed in over 30 Broadway shows, and with numerous artists including Ray Charles, Johnny Mathis, Tommy Tune, Isaac Hayes, Bobby Vinton,  Rufus Thomas, Frankie Valli,  Wayne Newton, and is currently the clarinetist with  ‘Your Father’s Moustache Band’ in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Buss is a member of Pi Kappa Lamda, International Clarinet Society, Music Educators National Conference, Colorado Music Educators Association, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, International Association for Jazz Educators, and American Federation of Musicians.
