Bill Clark

After receiving a graduate degree from Northwestern University in 1967, William "Bill" Clark became a freelance musician and began his teaching career at the University of Denver.  Soon he was performing throughout the United States as an employee of Your Father’s Mustache Band.  One notable appearance for Clark playing the tuba was on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1971.  In 1975, he fulfilled a childhood dream by joining the Queen City Jazz Band, and in 1988, he became the band’s leader.  The QCJB currently travels extensively performing at traditional jazz festivals in the United States and Europe.

Clark is presently an Assistant Professor at UC Denver’s College of Arts and Media where he is coordinator of the ensemble program and directs the internationally recognized UC Denver Claim Jumpers Dixieland ensemble.  Every December he contacts all the tuba players from miles around and 300 or more of them perform the amazing TubaChristmas concert in Larimer Square.
