Sam McGuire, recording Arts

Sam McGuire has been teaching since 2004, and at UCD since 2006. He received his Master of Science degree in Recording Arts, Pedagogy Track in 2004 from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Sound Recording and Tuba Performance from Brigham Young University.
Research Interests
Sam has been working with Rich Sanders to study the forensic applications of the Electrical Network Frequency to authenticate digital audio recordings. Additionally, Sam’s book Audio Sampling was released at the 2007 Audio Engineering Society convention in NYC.
Professional Activities
Previous highlights include: McGuire has been the recipient of prestigious grants and scholarship including the Audio Engineering Educational Foundation Grant, the Oscarson Discovery Grant, the ORCA Research Scholarship, and the Sant Media Scholarship.
Notable projects: McGuire's projects have been broadcast on PBS and regional cable channels, shown at NAB, and featured at national and international corporate meetings/conventions. More than one of these projects also included original music composed and recorded by Sam. Several other projects are still being broadcast nationally on Direct TV. Sam also assisted Martin Walters on Ladysmith Black Mambazo's Long Walk to Freedom, which reached number one on the world charts in early 2006 and was nominated for two Grammys.
