Stan Soocher, Entertainment Attorney

Entertainment
attorney Stan Soocher is currently Associate Professor and former Chair
of the Department of Music & Entertainment Industry Studies at the
University of Colorado Denver. He is also editor-in-chief of the industry
trade journal Entertainment Law & Finance, an American Lawyer
Media publication he has helmed since its start in 1985. In addition, Stan
is the author of the critically acclaimed book They Fought the Law:
Rock Music Goes to Court (Schirmer Trade Books/Music Sales Corp.). 
Soocher has also co-chaired the Legal Strategies Institute's "Fighting for
Music Royalties" Program and has presented "Entertainment Law: The
Year in Review" in Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Washington, D.C., Miami,
Orlando, Atlanta and Austin. Stan has received ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards for
excellence in music journalism, including for music law articles in Rolling
Stone and The National Law Journal. Stan's articles have also appeared
in the New York Law Journal, the Los Angeles Times Syndicate, Billboard Magazine, the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Writer's Digest and the Miami Herald,
among others publications. For many years, he covered the federal appeals courts
for the National Law Journal. Early in his career, Stan worked as an
associate editor for the rock magazine Circus.
Among the many media outlets who have interviewed Stan about entertainment industry issues are the Wall Street Journal, Variety, London Times, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, New York Daily News, New York Post, Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Chicago Tribune, Salt Lake Tribune, National Public Radio, CNN, BBC-TV, Court TV, Fox News Channel and Entertainment Weekly.
