Habitat #1 University of Florida Bat House. The Bat House was built to accommodate the Brazilian Free Tailed and the Southeastern Bat left homeless following their removal from the bleachers of the Percy Beard Track and Linder Tennis Stadiums at the University of Florida. The odor and stains of urine and guano constituted a nuisance and led the University to exclude bats from the structure. After several years of vacancy the bats moved into the Bat House and it now contains the largest single colony of Mexican Free-Tailed bats in the Southeastern U.S. Gainesville Florida. March 2001. |

| Habitat #2 The Colorado Division of Wildlife supplies electric fencing materials to small businesses with the goal of reducing damage claims caused by wildlife. Installation of the fencing is the responsibility of the business owners. This electric fence was not properly installed and the black bear that raided the hives caused over $5000.00 in damage. Sedalia, CO Summer 2000. |
