Music Performance: Preparing the complete performer.
Whether you're interested in classical or jazz, world beat or electronic rock, rock bands or avant-garde explorations, the University of Colorado Denver's Music Performance program is the ideal training ground. This College of Arts and Media program focuses on the development of performance skills in classical, jazz, commercial and experimental music styles. Since opportunities change rapidly in the diverse musical marketplace, the Performance Music program prepares students for a variety of professional paths. At the same time, it establishes the foundation of general musicianship necessary for any musical endeavor. Students choose from a variety of specialized courses including small performance ensembles, lessons, contemporary improvisation and analysis, and music history and literature. Music Performance classes introduce offer a unique education in current styles, interdisciplinary collaboration and technology.

The College of Arts & Media offers students a variety of ways to gain work experience in the performing arts. As a student of Performance Music, you will have many opportunities for creative work including:
Small ensembles performing locally, nationally and internationally Our musical ensembles often perform on campus and at community functions,as well as travel throughout the country and the world.
Mentoring, clinics and workshops.
All Performance Music faculty members are active performers who help pave the way for students to join with professional musicians. Organizations that students have become involved with include The Denver Jazz Club, Moments Notice, Kolacny Music, Kwaii, The Queen City Jazz Foundation, Summit Jazz Foundation, the Colorado Symphony and Colorado Choir.
