Dave Liebman ConcertA Home for Your Diverse Interests...

A dabbler in music performance, an understanding of technology, a desire to learn how to manage a music venue—if your musical curiosity spans numerous fields, the College of Arts & Media doesn’t want you to limit your studies—or the possibilities for your future.  With the Music Industry Studies program you are able to combine your diverse interests and prepare yourself for a career in the music and entertainment industry; it allows you to concentrate on the business side of the music industry, focus on music technology, or create a personalized, integrated course of study that combines both areas of emphasis.

Let Freedom Ring…or Bop…or Rock…

In the Music Industry Studies program, you’ll develop a broad range of marketable skills in music management, promotion, publishing, producing, and technology. Classes cover the business and legal aspects of music and entertainment, as well as the technologies associated with music recording, video, and multimedia production.

Music Industry Studies is the only program in the Department of Music & Entertainment Studies that does not require an audition; however, students are required to learn how to appreciate, play, and read music in a comfortable environment with equally minded and skilled students in their track.  The second year of music theory and history required of students in other programs is traded for studies in music business, film/TV production, multimedia, electrical engineering, or computer science.
