Math Placement and Testing
The Mathematics department utilizes the Accuplacer exam to determine appropriate placement in College Algebra and Calculus. Placement tests are offered during new student orientation and at any time that the Math Lab is open (most days on which there are classes).

MATH 1070 - Algebra for Social Science & Business It is the policy of the UCD Mathematics Department to require Accuplacer elementary algebra testing in math 1070. Students who do not pass the exam with a score of 85 or greater will not be able to enroll. Students who do pass the exam will need to add the course using a course adjustment form with a signature from the MERC Lab coordinator or a designated person in the Math Department. Please see the Math Dept site for more details. Prereq: at least a year of high school algebra and a satisfactory score on the placement exam. No co-credit with math 1110 or 1130. Students can only enroll with a Schedule Adjustment Form Authorized signatures:

MATH 1110 - College Algebra It is the policy of the UCD Mathematics Department to require Accuplacer elementary algebra testing in math 1110. Students who do not pass the exam with a score of 85 or greater, on or before the Wednesday of the first week of classes, will be administratively dropped from this course. Please see the Math Dept site for more details. Prereq: intermediate algebra and satisfactory score on the placement exam. No co-credit with either Math 1070 or 1130. |

MATH 1401 - Analytical Geometry and Calculus I It is the policy of the UCD Mathematics Department to require Accuplacer college mathematics testing in Math 1401. Students who do not pass the exam with a score of 80 or greater, on or before the Wednesday of the first week of classes, will be administratively dropped from this course.
