Undergraduate Academic Advising
Before Seeing Your Biology Major Advisor
- Prior to meeting with a biology major advisor, please visit your CLAS academic advisor.
- When meeting with your biology major advisor, please bring an unofficial copy of your transcript printed from the UCD website.
- If you are a transfer student from out of state who needs courses assessed for UCD equivalency, please bring official course descriptions and the degree requirements for the biology program from which are are transferring.
Our biology major advisors will assist you with class selection, planning a balanced course schedule, assessing transfer credits, degree progression analysis and graduation requirements, and career counseling.
Meeting with your biology major advisor once a year is recommended. However, you may see them more often if you have specific questions or concerns. The beginning and end of each semester is the busiest, so plan ahead.
All declared biology majors have two advisors:
Your Biology Major Advisor will work with you on the biology major requirements.
Your CLAS Academic Advisor will help handle your general educational issues such as: core curriculum advising, transfer crdits evaluation for Core Curriculum, academic warning and probation, etc.
You may also choose to see a Health Careers Advisor.
