Closure of Some Technical Communication Programs
Effective August 1, 2009, the Department of Communication is closing its Graduate Certificate in Technical & Professional Communication, and also closing its specialization in technical communication within the M.A. in Communication degree program. The Department greatly regrets these closures, but they are necessitated by sharp drops in student enrollment in graduate level technical communication courses over the last 12 months. Depending upon student demand, however, some graduate level courses in the technical communication area will continue to be offered. To learn whether or not a particular course has been cancelled, please consult the Course Schedule Planning pages for the Downtown Denver Campus at http://courses.cudenver.edu/
Students who have already been admitted to the M.A. in Communication degree program (prior to August 1, 2009) and who have been pursuing the specialization in technical communication should contact Professor James Stratman (James.Stratman@ucdenver.edu) about courses that they may substitute for technical communication courses that are not being offered, i.e., in order to complete their M.A. degree. Similarly, students who have already begun taking courses (prior to August 1, 2009) with the goal of completing the Graduate Certificate in Technical & Professional Communication should contact Professor Jim Stratman about substitute courses they make take in order to complete the Certificate.
