Diversity Symposium
Visiting Academic Jean Anyon
The School of Education and Human Development and the Doctoral Students of Color have hosted a visiting academic each year for the past four years to come to UCDHSC and discuss current research related to increasing the capacity of the School to recruit and serve diverse students, and to make a difference in urban education environments. This year, Jean Anyon will discuss her recent book, Radical Possibilities on March 13th from 4:30 to 8:30 in the Tivoli Turnhalle. Please see the attached invitation for detailed information and RSVP instructions.
Grant Opportunity
CU Faculty and NIST Scientists Collaborations
The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) will provide up to ten (10) seed grants of up to $50,000 each to initiate novel, cross-disciplinary collaborations by CU faculty and NIST scientists. Short proposals are due in April, and those planning to submit must attend a symposium in March. Further details are in the attached call for proposals.
Marketing / Communications Committee
A Call for Volunteers
A new marketing and communications committee for CLAS is being formed to address the marketing and media strategies for the college. The web committee will continue to meet through the end of this academic year, but will be consulted on an ad hoc basis as the marketing committee identifies web items that need addressing. Ideally, faculty and/or staff from the four disciplines, an academic advisor, as well as alumni and one or two community members who have a broad understanding and interest in marketing and/or media relations will volunteer. We are hoping for 10-12 committee members total.
Time Commitment:
The committee will meet for an hour-an-a-half on a monthly basis to guide the initial strategy and direction for mar/comm in the college. The first meeting will be at the end of February or in early March.
Please contact Katy Brown (303-556-6663) by Feb. 16 if you would like to volunteer or nominate someone to participate.
