CLAS Dean&s Notes

Diversity Plan

A draft of the CLAS Diversity Plan is available for comment through April 27. Many thanks to the Diversity Plan Taskforce for all of their work.

2007-2008 PPP forms

Due April 27 in the Dean's Office
Just a reminder that new PPP forms for Classified Staff for 2007-2008 are due! If you have not already done so, please revise, review, and sign your new PPP's and get them to Mary Coussons-Read (CB 144) in the CLAS Dean’s office no later than Friday, April 27, so she can review and sign them and get them to HR by the May 1 deadline.

Official downtown campus student email

Policy change beginning May 13
The university will begin to use UCDHSC-assigned e-mail addresses for all official email correspondence with students.  All faculty and staff must use the new official student addresses when communicating to students via e-mail. Please read the clarification of the official student e-mail policy and conversion timeline. This includes course-related communications, departmental communications, etc. Additional information is available.

New registration rules begin now for fall semester

Non-refundable registration fee
All students will now be required to pay a non-refundable registration advance payment of $200 each term before they will be allowed to register. Please read about the Financial Aid exemptions. Bills will be due the first day of class. Students may pay in full, or may opt for a deferred payment plan at that time. Students will no longer receive 100 percent of their tuition if they withdraw from all classes after the beginning of the term. More details concerning the new policy are also available.

First-year student enrollment

Call for faculty participation
All CLAS Academic Departments are invited to participate in the upcoming fall 2007 first-year student group advising sessions. The sessions are a dynamic opportunity for first-year students to meet and interact with faculty member(s). Please come to share your time and expertise while assisting new first-year students with enrolling in classes. Fill out this form and follow the instructions on returning it to the Advising Office. Questions? Contact Leslie Taylor, 303.556.2555.

HR: Open enrollment

Select your benefits for the next fiscal year
The Open Enrollment Web Application will be available online from May 10 at 8 a.m. (MST) through May 25 at 5 p.m. Payroll & Benefit Services (PBS) encourages you to review your open enrollment materials, take advantage of the learning opportunities listed on the Open Enrollment Calendar, and be actively engaged in making the best decisions about your benefits during Open Enrollment.

RFP for new online courses and programs

Submit your proposal for funding
Please use this RFP for New Online Programs and Services through CU Online. To date the number of applications is small, so the chances of getting this are very good if you are interested. You do not need to worry if you did not go to one of the pre-proposal workshops, you can still apply. Kim Penoyer is the contact person and proposals are due April 30.

Records retention

Student and financial records
The Dean’s Office receives questions on the retention of student and financial records on a regular basis. We thought it would be helpful to provide the comprehensive matrix the university has developed that details the records retention schedule for various types of documents. Please refer to the matrix, and feel free to contact JoAnn Pugh at 303.556.2120 if you have any questions.

Summer Web Camp 2007

Accepting faculty proposals
CU Online announced that they are now accepting proposals from faculty to participate in its upcoming 'Summer Web Camp' in June. It will be held in the CU Building on the 8th floor. The camp will run from June 4-8 and eligible faculty will be engaged in focused, hands-on, on-line course development. With support from CU Online staff, each participant will complete at least 50% of a new online course. (Information)
