Course Scheduling
Course scheduling is coordinated by Beverly Andes, Course and Curriculum Coordinator, in the CLAS Dean's Office. The schedule is developed by the department or program in consultation with Beverly and the Associate Dean for scheduling and curriculum. The process begins 6-8 months before the term begins.
The Dean's Office initiates the process by sending out a Call for Schedule to department chairs. Department chairs consult with faculty to add or delete courses, change meeting patterns, instructors and enrollment limits. Edits to the schedule are put in the Student Information System (SIS) by Beverly in the Dean’s office.
There are three schedule edits for each term (preliminary, review, and final edits), and an individual review meeting between department chairs and the Associate Dean to finalize the schedule for each term. UC Denver does not produced a printed schedule; however, an Excel printout will be provided to department chairs by Beverly during each edit stage. The final schedule will eventually be posted to the web in Schedule Planner for students to see at http://courses.cudenver.edu. Changes made to the schedule after it is posted to the web will appear in Schedule Planner approximately 24 hours after they are made by Beverly in SIS.

Considerations in Constructing the Schedule
Department chairs should attempt to balance day/night/weekend courses in terms of course offerings and program requirements. A review of enrollment patterns from past semesters helps to predict student demand. The Associate Dean may allow the addition of courses based on a pattern of enrollment growth. In this case, department chairs must have dean's office approval for the hiring of additional non-tenure-track faculty, if needed.
