A promising future for geographic thinkers
The popularity of GoogleEarth and MapQuest are but two illustrations of how geospatial technologies have permeated everyday life in the US and throughout the world. In fact, geo-technologies have been identified by the U.S. Department of Labor as one of the critical areas for the future of the US economy. So many industries and professions consider the question of ‘where’ that the possibilities for integrating geospatial technologies are endless.
Developing programs to address the opportunities
The CU Denver College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is funding the development of educational and research opportunities in this emerging field. At the present time, an interdisciplinary advisory group is working to define and enhance educational and research programs that will apply geospatial technologies across a wide spectrum of application areas, such as health, environment, and sustainability.
