Teaching and Research Assistantships
Currently, the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences does not offer teaching assistantships. However, several individual faculty frequently hire student research assistants (both undergraduate and graduate) for work on funded grants. Positions will be posted here when available.
Tuition Assistance
This type of assistance from the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences is generally only available to graduate students in the M.S. in Environmental Sciences Program. Incoming M.S. students will be automatically considered for program-distributed tuition assistance at the time of admission to the program. Continuing students will be regularly apprised of available aid and positions. Due to sustained recent budget cuts, tuition assistance through the MSES program has been temporarily suspended. All graduate students seeking financial aid other than research assistantships sponsored by individual faculty, should go through the Financial Aid office.
Brigadier General Rodgers Scholarship for Geography Majors
As a result of a generous fund established by Mrs. Rodgers in honor of her late husband Brigadier General William M. Rodgers, a former instructor in our department, the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences awards up to two $1000 scholarships each fall for undergraduate geography majors. Please visit the Brigadier General William M. Rodgers Scholarship website for further information.
