Workshop Description

This three-day workshop has been designed for public health advocates, policymakers, researchers, educators, and students who want to take a more active role in reducing health disparities of Latinos in Colorado. Participants will get hands-on practice developing first-person stories and using Final Cut Pro, a professional video editing program for Apple computers, and other video making resources available to health workers to strategically advance a health or health policy issue such as tobacco control, heart disease, cancer, mental health, and access to health services.

Participants will learn how to develop a compelling first-person script for a video for maximum effectiveness, how to shoot and edit video, and how to use digital stories to advance your Latino health goals. Apple computers will be available for participants. No prior experience with Apple computers is necessary. This is not a workshop for those content with the status quo. Participants will be required to meet 2 or more times in person or electronically to develop scripts before the workshop. Participants must be 18 and over, and MUST attend all 3 days of the workshop.

This workshop is free and may be digitally recorded for documentation, archival, and research and teaching purposes.
