PROGRAMSCertificate in Ethics
Offered through the Center for Ethics and Community, the Ethics Certificate is offered to individuals outside the University, as well as to regularly enrolled students. The program encourages community members from all walks of life to further their ethics education.
Certificate Requirements
A minimum of 16 credit hours is required for an ethics certificate. Students are required to write a capstone paper in an area of ethics directly related to their career and/or field os study (PHIL 3840).
A. Required Courses: Total 4-7 credit hours
- PHIL 1020 - Introduction to Ethics and Society: 3 credit hours
- PHIL 3840 - Independent Study Credit (1-3 credit hours for the Capstone Paper)
B. Any four of the following courses: Total 12 credit hours (3 credits per course)
- PHIL 3002 - Ancient Greek Philosophy
- PHIL 3150 - History of Ethics
- PHIL 3200 - Social & Political Philosophy
- PHIL 3250 - Business Ethics
- PHIL 3500 - Ideology & Culture: Racism & Sexism
- PHIL 4150 - Twentieth Century Ethics
- PHIL 4242 - Bioethics
