Philosophy Minor Requirements
A total of 15 credit hours are required for the minor in Philosophy. A minimum grade of C (2.0) is required in each course.

A. Required Courses 9 hours
- PHIL 1012 - Introduction to Philosophy
- PHIL 3002 - Greek Philosophy
- PHIL 3022 - Modern Philosophy (It is recommended, but not required, that PHIL 3002 be taken before PHIL 3022)
B. Electives:
6 hours of electives, at least 3 hours of which must be at the upper division level.
Ethics Minor Requirements
A total of 15 credit hours are required for the Ethics minor. A minimum grade of C (2.0) is required in each course.
A. Required Course
- PHIL 1020 - Introduction to Ethics and Society
B. Any four of the following courses:
- PHIL 3150 - History of Ethics
- PHIL 3160 - Ethics and Community
- PHIL 3200 - Social & Political Philosophy
- PHIL 3250 - Business Ethics
- PHIL 3500 - Ideology & Culture: Racism & Sexism
- PHIL 3939 - Internship (1-3 hours)
- PHIL 4150 - Twentieth Century Ethics
- PHIL 4242 - Bioethics
For those students who major in philosophy and minor in ethics, no course can satisfy the requirements for both. For example, if a student takes PHIL 4150 - 20th Century Ethics, it cannot satisfy the requirement in the major for a course in 19th or 20th century philosophy.
Religious Studies Minor
This program draws together the University's resources across many disciplines to offer a concentration in the area of Religious Studies. Religion is a complex and multi-facited phenomenon involving the overarching worldview of a culture, its social norms, ethics, and politics. In the private dimension, religious experiences are among the most profound an individual can have. In the public sphere, religion has inspired powerful institutional forms, literary and artistic works throughout history and across the globe. This program is designed to foster a nuanced understanding of religious phenomena, and to cultivate criticle skills in the discipline of Religious Studies.
