Pre-Professional Programs
An undergraduate degree in the Liberal Arts & Sciences can prepare students for a number of careers in the professions. CLAS Advisors can help you chart the right path to your dreams in law, medicine, health careers, and education.
Law Careers
Students interested in gaining entrance to a school of law may major in any field since law schools typically do not specify undergraduate coursework as entrance requirements. More important to law schools are methods of study, critical thinking and communication skills. The interdisciplinary minor in Law Studies provides a foundation worth considering.
Health Careers
The college has a faculty Health Careers Advisor to assist students in preparing for careers in the following:
- Dentistry
- Medicine
- Osteopathy
- Veterinary Medicine
Course have also been developed within the college to prepare students for the following specific careers within the general area of health sciences:
- Child Health Associate
- Dental Hygiene
- Medical Technology
- Nursing
- Optometry
- Pharmacy
- Physical Therapy
- Physician Assistant
- Podiatry
Because the prerequisites for these health career programs are continually changing, students interested in pursuing one of these careers should contact the Health Careers Advisor for current requirements and for advising.
Education
Liberal arts students seeking certification for teaching at the primary or secondary level must complete a baccalaureate degree plus approximately 40 semester hours of professional education from the School of Education.
