UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS:
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology

For majors declared Fall 2006 and thereafter

The B.A. program in psychology, while including foundations of scientific research, will focus more on the social aspects of the study of human behavior and psychological function. This major track in psychology, coupled with the CLAS general education requirements, leads to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree.

The degree requirements listed below apply only to majors declared Fall 2006 or thereafter. If Psychology was your declared major prior to the Fall 2006 semester, please read this important information about your options.

Major Requirements: 37 credit hours in Psychology including:

  • at least 15 upper division credit hours taken from UC Denver - DDC faculty
  • no more than 48 credit hours in psychology can count toward graduation

  • PSY 2090 - Statistics and Research Methods and recitation (PSY 2090R)
    • PSY 2090 and 2090R must be taken simultaneously
    • completion of intermediate algebra strongly recommended
  • PSY 2220 - Biological Basis of Behavior

Group A: Any three of the following courses including one or both PSY 3222 and PSY 4144

Policies

  • Topics courses (PSY 3600): See you advisor to determine whether they count in Group A or Group B
  • Psychology courses in which a student earns a C- or lower do NOT count toward the major requirements.
  • Pass/fail grades do NOT count towards the major requirements.
  • Internship/Cooperative Education credits (PSY 3939) will NOT be counted towards the 37 hour minimum, but can count as elective credit in psychology.
  • MSCD psychology courses will NOT be included in the 15 upper division credit hour requirement for a UC Denver degree in Psychology.
  • Psychology courses taken at other colleges and universities (including other CU campuses) must be approved by the UC Denver Psychology advisor or department chair before they can be counted towards the major requirements.
