UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS:
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology
For majors declared Fall 2006 and thereafter
The B.S. program in psychology focuses mostly on the biological and biochemical basis of behavior and mental function. This major track in psychology, coupled with the CLAS general education requirements, leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
The degree requirements listed below apply only to majors declared Fall 2006 or thereafter. If Psychology was your declared major prior to the Fall 2006 semester, please read this important information about your options.
General Requirements for the Major
Students can take a maximum of 56 credit hours in psychology, biology, and chemistry that will count toward graduation. A minimum of 15 upper division credit hours must be taken from UC Denver faculty. Note that CLAS requires a total of 120 credit hours for graduation!
Admission to the Major
Students must have sophomore standing and have received grades of B or better in General Biology 1 and 2 for Majors with lab or the equivalent to be admitted to candidacy for the B.S. degree in Psychology.

Students must complete one. Requires consultation with BS advisor AND instructor permission.
- PSY 3939 - Internship in Psychology (2.75 GPA required), 3 credit hours (for more information, click here), or
- PSY 4840 - Independent Study in Psychology, 3 credit hours, or
- Honors Thesis in Psychology (3.5 GPA required), 3 credit hours
General Policies
- No grade below C is acceptable towards the major requirements. That is, courses in which a student earns a C- or below will not count toward the major
- Pass/fail grades do NOT count towards the major requirements
- Psychology courses taken at other colleges and universities (including CU-Boulder and CU-Colorado Springs) must be approved by the UC Denver psychology B.S. advisor before they can be counted towards the major requirements.
