Using the Laboratory

Note - The purpose of the Shared analytical Services Laboratory is to provide a centralized pool of equipment, instrumentation, resources, and expertise for chemical analysis. Policies for laboratory access and use are controlled by the SASL Advisory Committee, and, is limited to users who have received the relevant SASL Safety Briefings. Failure to follow the stated procedures will result in revocation of the users permission to use the laboratory.

Researchers must submit a request for support before beginning research using laboratory resources. The purpose of the request is to allow tracking of the demand on laboratory resources, and to ensure we have the resources to perform the desired work. The detail required in the request is determined by the type of support requested. Any questions regarding the availability, scheduling, or the suitability for use of any of the laboratory resources should be directed to the Laboratory Manager.

We welcome and encourage questions regarding our capabilities or how to use the lab. If the analysis you seek is not specifically addressed in this site, please ask. We may have access through another lab, or we may be able to construct the instrumentation to perform the analysis. Please address any questions to the Laboratory Manager.
