Faces of Men and Women, Past and Present

Women’s and Gender Studies (WGST) is an interdisciplinary program offered either as an undergraduate minor or a graduate certificate through the Master’s of Humanities and Master’s of Social Sciences.  Graduate students can also discuss a WGST emphasis within their disciplinary programs.

WGST courses focus on the centrality of gender to understanding our past and present worlds. Students probe assumptions about both men and women, questions about power and inequality, and perspectives on the impact and meaning of feminism. WGST examines the ways gender issues intersect with issues of race, class, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, and physical ability. Our program helps students develop critical thinking skills and familiarity with the methods of a variety of disciplines.
