MINOR IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
at
The University of Colorado Denver
The Environmental Sciences program offers a Minor in Environmental Sciences which is available to all UC Denver students. The Environmental Sciences minor offers students exposure to the breadth of environmental issues. Students may emphasize the natural/physical sciences, the social sciences, or structure an independent emphasis which mixes the natural/physical sciences, social sciences, and philosophy.
Requirements:
- 2 semester science major lecture/laboratory sequence (see Note 2) -- 8-10 hours
- 1 course in applied statistics -- 3 hours
- 4 upper division courses (see Note 5) -- 12 hours
- Total Required Hours: 23-25 hours
Notes:
All work submitted for an Environmental Sciences minor must have a grade of C (2.0) or above.
The lecture/laboratory sequence can be part of the requirements for the major, but not in the student's major department (i.e. a biology major cannot use the general biology sequence, but could use the general chemistry sequence which is also required for the biology major).
Students must take a minimum of 9 hours of the upper division courses at UC Denver.
If the student plans to go on to the M.S. in Environmental Sciences Program, he/she should chose courses other than CHEM 4700 or ECON 4540. These courses (at the 5000 level) are core courses in the MSES Program.
Many of the upper division courses have prerequisites, student must check the catalog for prerequisite requirements for these courses.
Elective courses for the Environmental Sciences Minor may not be from the student's major.
