Dear Parents and Guardians,
Allow me to welcome you to the University of Colorado Denver community. As your child has chosen to join the UCDfamily, in many ways so have you. As your child goes through all of the experiences of the first year in college, so will you. There will be the great times and the not-so-great times. There will be the phone calls every week and the "why haven't they called" times. The first year of college is one of tremendous growth for the majority of students.
Our mission in the Division of Student Affairs is “Success Realized. One Student at a Time.” We recognize that the success of each student depends on all members of our team working together to provide the needed instruction, resources and support that students need.
We also recognize that parents and guardians are valuable resources and partners in this process and we encourage you to remain active and involved in your child’s education. We look forward to working with you as your student begins their journey in higher education this fall.
We look forward to working with you to help your student complete the transition from childhood to independent adulthood. Being the parent of a college student asks that you both support and advocate for them and begin letting go and allowing them to take more ownership of their decisions and challenges.
I encourage you to talk with your student about their concerns and yours as you begin this important transition. Please also feel free to call us with any questions or concerns that you may have. Together we can help your student realize success.
