General Description or Areas of Interest

Patrick Lowenthal is an Academic Technology Coordinator at CU Online at the University of Colorado Denver.  At CU Online, Patrick supports faculty who teach online. He is also a doctoral student studying how technology influences instructional communication-with a specific focus on social and teaching presence-in both online and face-to-face environments. In addition, he often writes about issues and problems of practice related to post-secondary education. He is an alumni of the ILT program--getting his MA focusing on Instructional Design as well as a graduate certificate in Designing and Implementing Web-based Learning Environments.  In addition, he has a MA in the Academic Study of Religion.  Patrick has been teaching in the classroom since 1998 and teaching online since 2003.
