K–12 Teaching: ITS K-12 Endorsement Instruction Sheet

The instructions below are for alumni of CU's master's program in Curriculum & Instruction, ILT
emphasis, who have completed all requirements for the ITS endorsement. If a student has not gone through an accredited program, Colorado Department of Education can review through credit and experience.

  1. ILT alumni of CU who are adding an endorsement in Instructional Techology Specialist (ITS) to an existing license or certificate need to complete the Colorado Department of Education Application for Added Endorsement Based on an Approved Program. Go to: http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/Licensure_FirstTimeApp.asp
  2. Scroll to the middle of the page and select the option that reads: "Added Endorsement." Click on the option of "Request Application (Approved Program)." The CDE materials include a checklist with detailed information about fees and requirements. Follow this checklist carefully in assembling your materials. Because of page-number differences between download and hardcopy versions, pay particular attention to the section areas specified in the checklist.
  3. When you have completed the application, please make a copy of your application materials
    for your own records.
  4. Submit application materials, official UC Denver transcript, and fees (see the checklist) to:

    Upon receipt of your application, CU faculty and staff review your coursework to determine the
    fit to ITT requirements. Based upon the review, institutional recommendation may be provided
    to CDE. Or, if any requirements are not met, we provide a letter to you indicating the evidence
    you need to provide. Please allow 2 weeks for the CU review process. We will submit your
    paperwork to the Colorado Department of Education, and they will send you the official
    endorsement in 8 – 10 weeks.You can also check the status of the application by going to the following link: https://forms.cde.state.co.us/pes/DOBSearch.jsp

    A word of advice: Plan ahead. Applications must be processed in the order received. In
    particular, the CDE Educator Licensing unit is unable to check application status and is unable
    to expedite paperwork. Please keep your address up-to-date with CDE's Licensing Unit by
