Jackie Dobrovolny, Ph.D. is owner of Triple Play: All Bases Covered, a company focusing on instruction and other performance improvement interventions. In addition to the ILT program at UC Denver, Jackie’s clients include Cooperative Organization for Meteorological Education and Training (COMET), CUOnline, J.D. Edwards, National Cable Television Institute (NCTI), National Indian Gaming Commission, Nurse Family Partnership, Resort Computer Corporation (RCC), and Up with People.

Jackie’s interests include:

  • Interface design of instructional websites
  • Online instruction, both self-paced and group-paced, and the use Web 2.0 technologies
  • The picture superiority effect and Pavio’s dual coding theory
  • Constructivist theory of learning especially as applied to adult learners and how they learn
  • Research (I love data!)
  • Design of instruction for diverse/international/global students.

She has published articles and book chapters and delivered workshops and presentations on these topics.

Jackie has been on the board of directors, including president, of the Front Range Chapter of the International Society for Performance Improvement (http://www.ispi-frc.org/) for many years.  She is also a member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD-RMC).

Before earning her doctorate, Jackie worked for 17 years for McDonnell Douglas Training Systems as the manager of Commercial Products.  These products included an authoring system, a learning management system, and several off-the-shelf courses. 

Jackie earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Innovation (EDLI) at UC Denver and her dissertation topic was how adults learn from self-paced, technology-based instruction.
