Joni Dunlap, PhD, CPT is an Associate Professor of Information and Learning Technologies (ILT) in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver. Joni coordinates the Designing and Implementing Web-based Learning Environments online certification program. She is also an active faculty member in the Educational Leadership and Innovation (EDLI) doctoral program at UC Denver. In 2001, Joni launched NOVAtions, an online professional journal for emerging scholars (specifically, doctoral students). In 2002, she received UC Denver's Teacher of the Year Award.
Joni's areas of interest include:
- Situated learning and social constructivist instructional strategies, and how the use of these strategies enhance students' development and experience. She recently published an article on workload reduction for online instructors.
- Web resources as performance-support and knowledge management tools.
- Design and management of online and hybrid/blended courses and programs, with special emphasis on learner support services for online students.
She has published numerous articles and book chapters (in addition to a book on Hypermedia Learning Environments) and delivered close to 100 invited and refereed conference presentations on these subjects, and has received awards for her work, including an Award of Excellence for Outstanding Research from the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), and a Best Paper Award from WebNet/E-Learn (Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education). She is currently the President of the Front Range Chapter of ISPI.
Joni is the co-instructor for IT 5660 -- Desiging and Teaching in eLearning Environments.
