Melissa Kreider is a 5th grade classroom teacher at Trailblazer Elementary in Douglas County School District. She has worked in Douglas County since 2002. Melissa's Bachelor's degree is in Communications from Kent State University. She earned both her teaching degree and Master's degree from UC Denver (Information and Learning Technologies - 2004). She has been an instructional technology leader in the District and this work allowed her to earn the DCSD Apple Digital Educator Grant in 2006. She mentors and trains teachers across the district in effectively using technology in the classroom. Prior to working in education, she worked as a Web designer/ technical writer/ trainer in the corporate world.

Melissa Kreider and Sherri Clemens are co-instructors for Digital Storytelling in the Curriculum IT- 5340. Both have completed The Center for Digital Storytelling's 3 -day and 5-day train-the-trainer workshops. Melissa and Sherri presented a session entitled “Digital Storytelling Using Multimedia” at the Technology in Education (TIE) conference in June 2006 and have developed staff development courses for their school district on the topic of digital storytelling.
