Graduation
Your final classes should include IT 6999 Leadership and Practice, and IT 6930 Internship/Field Experience. Consult with your advisor about the best time to take these courses, given your situation.
How many classes will I take?
The ILT Master's program consists of 36 semester credit hours. These credit hours are a combination of 24 hours from required core courses and 12 from electives.
How long is the program?
You can complete the program in two years.
How long can I take to complete the program?
The university allows you seven years from the time you are officially admitted. You must maintain a 3.0 grade point average and take at least three courses each calendar year without skipping two semesters in a row.
How do I prepare for graduation?
To graduate, complete the graduation packet and return it to your advisor by the first week of your final term. (You can drop by the Student Services Center 1380 Lawrence Street, suite 700 to pick up the graduation packet; or phone 303-315-6300 to request that they be sent to your home.)
What else do I need to do in order to graduate?
You will need to:
- Complete a Master's Portfolio (The portfolio is reviewed by the ILT faculty during the semester in which you intend to graduate. In order to graduate, you must receive a "pass" on the portfolio.)
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Meet with your advisor at least three times during your program.
- Transfer all graduate credits before your last semester in the program.
- Complete probationary requirements, if necessary.
During the Semester Prior to Graduation
- Check with the Student Services Center that all requirements will be met before graduation.
- Submit Candidacy for Degree form (.doc), to your advisor along with an unofficial copy of your transcript.

During the Graduating Semester
- Submit your Master's Portfolio for review by the announced deadline of your graduating semester.
- Apply for graduation with the Student Services Center at the beginning of your graduating semester.
- Pay all fines and charges with the University of Colorado Denver.
- Order cap and gown (Spring and Fall graduation only). Students graduating in the Summer may take part in the Spring or Fall graduation ceremonies.
- If you do not plan to participate in the graduation ceremonies, notify the Records Office at 303-556-2388 and submit a check for $5.00 with directions for mailing your diploma to your home.
- (School Library master's degree: complete your Master's Project in the final semester of course work. Application for the project must be made with the Student Services Center at the end of the semester before your final semester.)
- (Library Media master's degree: complete ILT 6999 and the Master's Portfolio.)
