IT 6750 Current Trends and Issues in Instructional Technology (3 credits)
Examination of the current trends and issues in the practice of instructional technology. The topics will vary.
IT 5130 Instructional Message Design (3 credits)
Principles and practices for designing textual, visual, and auditory instructional messages based upon the behavioral sciences.
IT 5600 Multimedia Authoring: Web (3 credits)
Learn to use Web authoring software to create educational learning products and resources, Use the same software to develop an initial professional portfolio. Learn and apply sound principles multimedia learning.
IT 6740 Learning Processes in IT (3 credits)
Principles of learning and instruction for technology-mediated learning materials. Topics include case- and project-based teaching and other inquiry-learning strategies; tutorial and direct-instruction strategies for rule and procedure learning; schema-based learning for conceptual change; and self-directed learning.
EPSY 5220 Adult Learning and Education (3 credits)
Intro to models and theories of adult education.
IT 6720 Research in Information and Learning Technologies (3 credits)
Analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of published research in instructional technology. Emphasis on analytical and experimental research. Students will conduct and complete an action research project.
IT 5160 Managing ILT Projects (3 credits)
Learn management skills and concepts through participation in an authentic project-based simulaton, responding to a call for proposals with a bid for work. Skills include team building and collaboration skills; time management; cost estimation; conceptual development and persuasive communication; and performanct contracting.
IT 6930 Internship (3 credits)
Find placement in an agency, business, or organization where you can function in a professional capacity to assess needs and design, develop, evaluate, or disseminate an instructional product or innvation. Students may perform this internship in their current workplace.
Production Course (choose one)
IT 5370 Digital Video for Interactivity (3 credits)
Digital video design and production for online and multimedia instruction. Topics include needs assessment and media selection; scripting and design; shooting; lighting; sound; editing; formats and conversion; and multimedia integration.
IT 5340 Digital Storytelling in the Curriculum (3 credits)
Using a non-linear video editing tool, develop a digital story and create an instructional unit that integrates digital storytelling activities.
Additional Electives
IT 5650 Policies and Planning for eLearning Programs (3 credits)
Methods and strategies for planning, developing, and implementing instruction delivered via distance-learning technologies. Strategies for student activities, content presentation, and learning assessment. Instructional models for social and content interactions; identity formation; and participation in authentic practices.
IT 5998 Professional Development Activities (1-2 credits)
Attend professional conferences to meet leaders in the field of Information and Learning Technologies and to expand your understanding of the field and its participants.
