Project: Proposal and Round-Robin Presentation

Building on your problem statement, develop a full proposal for completing your research study. Your proposal will include the following generic components:

  • Problem statement
  • Method section, including:
    • overall design of the study
    • participants and collaborators
    • data-collection instruments or methods
    • data analysis
    • schedule of activities (each of these could be subheadings)
  • Environmental Impact Statement assessing
    • anticipated impact of research on participants and community
    • possible negative impact of research findings on you personally and on the organization.
  • Possible Future Actions

Several examples of action research proposals can be found in the "Examples" section on CUOnline.

In some cases, you may be restricted in the type of data you are able to collect given your timeframe and resources. Your proposal will need to reflect those restrictions. In other words, plan your study in a way that allows you to complete a meaningful project within the timelines of the term. This may influence your choice of a research project, or may cause you to plan your study in stages. In that case, you would submit for a grade only the part of the study completed during our term.

Prepare a 5-minute mediated presentation to share with peers in small groups. This short presentation should present 4-6 slides summarizing your proposal.

Project value is 15% of the total grade.
