K–12 Teaching: Career Options
The K-12 ILT Masters program prepares teachers to be leaders in technology integration, planning and faculty training. In addition, our graduates are specialists in creating their own technology-based learning innovations. Over the years we have trained hundreds of teachers throughout the Metro area, many serving in district and state leadership positions. Our program is designed to meet ISTE and new CDE standards for technology leaders.
ILT master's graduates provide technology leadership to their schools and districts. They are often active on school and district technology committees, run special projects and labs, and provide technical support to other teachers. They also provide workshops and training to colleagues at professional conferences and in-service meetings.
The establishment of the new CDE Instructional Technology Specialist endorsement has created high interest in our program. The ILT program was the first program to apply to CDE for this privilege, and we hope to receive approval by the end of this calendar year.
Teachers in Colorado public schools must have a valid teaching license issued by the Colorado Department of Education. Local job announcements are available from school districts. Many work opportunities are also posted on ILT-L Listserv , our program listserv. National job opportunities are posted in ITForum, a national listserv for instructional designers and technologists.
