Required Courses

IT 6515 Leadership for Learning Technologies Integration (3 credits)

Learn how a vareity of common web tools can used to implement research-based instructional strategies. Explore and sample free tools available on the Web, and apply them to curriculum needs. Develop an instrucitonal unit linked to standards and your school improvement plan. Prepare for leadership opportunities within your school and district.

IT 5710 Technologies and Networking in Education (3 credits)

Nuts-and-bolts introduction to hardware and software systems and networking resources for education. Learn basic OS features in Mac and Windows enrivonments; how to set up computers and install software; how to link computers to labs and networks; and how to troubleshoot problems. Connect these concepts to the labs and networks in your own school.

IT 6750 Current Trends and Issues in Instructional Technology (3 credits)

Learng about the field of instructional design and technology (IDT) and the history of educational technology. Examine current trends and issues in the practice of instructional technology in K12 and adult settings. Learn some of the foundation concepts in the field, including the ADDIE model for instructional design.

IT 5600 Multimedia Authoring: Web (3 credits)

Learn to use Web authoring software to create educational learning products and resources. Use that same authoring software to develop an initial shell for your professional portfolio. Learn and apply principles of graphic and multimedia learning design.

IT 5830 Workshop: Assessment and Technology (3 credits)

Learn principles of assessment in instructional design and how technology can support ongoing assessment of instruction. Learn how assessment of instruction contrasts with assessment for instruction - and how both phave a place in the educator's toolbox. Explore a variety of tools for assessment such as clicker systems, quzmakers, questionin strategies, data-driven decision-making, project and product rubrics, and learning portfolios.

IT 6720 Research in Information and Learning Technologies (3 credits)

Plan and complete an action research study in your work setting. Include a needs assessment or organizational problem analysis; a survey of best practices and literature; data collection of performance, perceptions, and learning process and outcome; and analysis and report of findings.

IT 6740 Learning Processes in IT (3 credits)

Review current learning theories from the learning sciences and psychology, including cognitive load theory, activity theory, brain research, and multimedia learning theory. Relate cognitivie learning theories to technology-supported learning activities. Critique and analyze technology-based learning activities and design lessons to improve cognitive outcomes.

IT 6999 Leadership & Practice in Information & Learning Technologies (3 credits)

Reflectively examine the adoption and use of learning technologies in applied settings. Topics include change strategies, system analysis, planning and evaluating technology use, and roles of technology specialists. Activities include site visits to technology-using facilities. Course should be taken during the last semester, or next-to- last semester, of course work.

IT 6930 Internship (3-4 credits)

Find placement in a school or district where you can function in a professional capacity to integrate and use learning technologies, and provide leadership in this area. You may perform this internship in you current workplace.

IT 5340 Digital Storytelling in the Curriculum(3 credits)

Using nono-linear video editing software, develop a digital story and integrate a digital storytelling activity into an instructional unit - in a way that addreseses learning needs and standards.

IT 5370 Digital Video for Interactivity (3 credits)

Digital video design and production for online and multimedia instruction. Topics include needs assessment and media selection; scripting and design; shooting; lighting; sound; editing; formats and conversion; and multimedia integration.

IT 5130 Instructional Message Design (3 credits)

Principles and practices for designing textual, visual, and auditory instructional messages based upon the behavioral sciences.

IT 5998 Professional Development Activities (1-2 credits)

Attend professional conferences to meet leaders in the field of Information and Learning Technologies and toexpand your understanding of the field and its participants. Colorado's TIE conference is an example.
