Ouray Job Aids

In order to assist ILT students with their use of the Ouray server located on the UC Denver campus, we offer the following job aids.

NOTE: If you have previous experience working with Ouray and Dreamweaver, you may be most interested in the "File management using Dreamweaver" job aid in the lower right cell of the table below, though you'll discover that you will have to access some of the other job aids to complete all of your file management tasks with Ouray.

Platform For beginning Ouray users For experienced Ouray users

Mac

Activating your Ouray account and Web services using Terminal on a Mac - use this job aid if you work on a Mac and are just starting to use Ouray.

File management using Cyberduck for Mac users - you must use SFTP now for uploading. Dreamweaver has its flaws when it comes to uploading new files and folders, so using Cyberduck on a Mac is the recommended solution.

Fix the "Host Key" problem - on May 15, 2007, IT Services updated the server software on Ouray. As a result, the host key that you created the first time you connected to Ouray prior to May 15, 2007 using Cyberduck will generate an error dialog box. A job aid is not yet available for this but is coming soon. For now, just click the "Always" button on the dialog box.

PC

Activating your Ouray account and Web services using SshClient on a PC - use this job aid if you work on a PC and are just starting to use Ouray.

File management using SshClient for PC users - you must use SFTP now for uploading. Dreamweaver has its flaws when it comes to uploading new files and folders, so using SshClient on a PC is the recommended solution.

Both PC and Mac

Basic file management for all Ouray users - good file management is half the job of Web authoring.

File management using Dreamweaver (both Mac and PC users) - for existing files and folders, Dreamweaver will still work OK for uploading and downloading, but you must make changes to the Remote Info on your site definitions. This job aid shows you how.

Resetting your Ouray password - use this job aid if you forget your Ouray password or, for some reason, your password isn't accepted by the Ouray server and you need to reset it.
