ILT-L: A Listserv for the ILT Community

One way you can learn about current news and job postings is through the ILT-L discussion list. We strongly encourage all students to subscribe and use the list for dissemination and reception of important information.

A listserv is an online discussion group on the Internet. You subscribe, and thereafter begin receiving all e-mail sent to the list by other subscribers. Any e-mail you send to the listserv gets sent to all subscribers as well. Listservs provide a convenient way for groups of people to interact with each other, converging on a common focus or interest area. The name of our list is ILT-L for "Information and Learning Technologies List. "

ILT-L provides an open forum for ILT faculty, students, and program friends. Typical postings include:

  • News about upcoming semesters, deadlines, changes in schedules, etc.
  • Job and internship announcements;
  • Announcements about local meetings and conferences;
  • Announcements about online resources and services available off of our own Web pages;
  • Discussions on questions of interest to instructional technologists and library media specialists.

In other words, feel free to post anything that you think would be of interest to the whole group of ILT students, program friends and faculty. We expect students to subscribe, because it will be their primary source for important program announcements.

We encourage subscribers to be thoughtful about the messages that they send to the list. Also, please make sure that you any reply to a message you receive from the list is not addressed to the ILT-L e-mail address (unless you really intend to do this) because your reply will go to all subscribers of the list.

Below are instructions on how to subscribe, post and unsubscribe to ILT-L. If you have trouble with any of these processes, please e-mail Brent Wilson (Brent.Wilson@cudenver.edu).

To Subscribe to the ILT-L Listserv

  1. Visit http://listmail.cudenver.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=ilt-l&A=1.
  2. Enter your name and the e-mail address where you'd like to receive messages from the list.
  3. Select the options that you'd like to use for your subscription. It is suggested that you use the default settings for:
    1. Subscription Type (Regular) ,
    2. Mail Header Style (Normal LISTSERV-style header), and
    3. Acknowledgements (Short message confirming receipt).
    4. Do not check either of the two "Miscellaneous" items.
  4. Then, click the "Join ILT-L" button below the form.

Once you are subscribed, it is also strongly suggested that you create a login password at http://listmail.cudenver.edu/cgi-bin/wa?GETPW1 using the e-mail address you used when you subscribed. You can then login at http://listmail.cudenver.edu/cgi-bin/wa?LOGON&L=ilt-l to manage, change and update your listserv account settings and your listserv subscriptions.

Upon subscribing, you will receive a welcome message, containing important information about the ILT-L listserv. This message provides instructions about how to manage your subscription through commands sent to the listserv server via e-mail, but managing your account through the Web interface may be easier. Please save that e-mail message for future reference.

How to Post Messages to ILT-L

There are two ways to send an e-mail message to the subscribers of ILT-L:

  1. E-mail your message to ILT-L@lists.cudenver.edu.
  2. Login to your listserv account at http://listmail.cudenver.edu/cgi-bin/wa?LOGON&L=ilt-l and then compose your message to the list at http://listmail.cudenver.edu/cgi-bin/wa?P1&L=ilt-l using the Web-based form provided on that page.

How to Unsubscribe

To unsubscribe from ILT-L Listserv:

  1. Login at http://listmail.cudenver.edu/cgi-bin/wa?LOGON&L=ilt-l
  2. Click the "Leave ILT-L" button at the bottom of the form.
