Online Consultations

The Writing Center offers students whose schedules do not match ours, or those who prefer to do their work from the comfort of home, the ability to work on their writing online with a consultant.

Spring 2008 Online hours:

Sunday - Thursday
6:00PM to 10:00PM

Our online consultations are synchronous—you and the consultant are online at the same time. For that reason, sessions are available by appointment only.

We do offer a place for Graduate students to drop off their papers online.

Directions for STUDENTS using etutoring.org

First, Schedule your Appontment for Online HERE!

Then follow these steps:

1. Go to http://www.etutoring.org/login.cfm?institutionid=185
2. On the log in page, please enter the following information:
   1. USERNAME: this is the first letter of your first name followed by the first seven letters of your last name.  All letters are lower case with NO punctuation or spaces.  For example: John Doe = jdoe
   2. PASSWORD is: Etutoring (case sensitive)
3. Click the “Sign In” button.
4. On the next page, you will need to enter some information:
   1. Student ID number
   2. Secret question and answer
   3. You should also change your password to something only you will know
5. Agree to terms and conditions at the bottom of the page and click “update profile”
6. Turn your Pop-Up Blocker off by using the Tools menu
   1. You may also need to click the Pop-Up icon on your tool bar.
7. Click the “eChat” link
8. Click the “Enter Queue” button to enter the online room
   1. If you are asked to install the Breeze Meeting Add In, do so and Click install.

You are now in the etutoring.org UCD Writing Center online room!  Your name will appear in the Attendee List on the left side of your screen along with the Consultant’s name.
